As of 1 July 2017, lists of occupations eligible for a range of temporary and permanent visas have been revised.
The update has been made to ensure the lists reflect genuine skill needs in the Australian labour market. The changes to the lists will protect Australian workers already in the Australian labour market, while continuing to accept overseas workers in occupations which face skills shortage.
As part of the reform of skilled visa programmes announced in April 2017, the update will be made regularly on a six monthly basis based on consultation with industry and advice from the Department of Employment and the Department of Education and Training.
