ANZA MAKES MAJOR CHARITABLE CONTRIBUTION TO KOREAN HOSPICE
Annual donations from the Australian and New Zealand Association (ANZA) to an important Korean charity is growing in scale and impact from year to year.
HE Peter Rowe, Australian Ambassador to the Republic of Korea, and one of ANZA’s Patrons, will make a formal presentation to the Morhyun Hospice on Monday.
“We are delighted to be able to contribute in a meaningful way to the community in which we live and the Morhyun Hospice and the Little Sister’s of Mary are wonderful actors in the Korean community who we are privileged to be able to support” said Mrs Georgie Bruce, the President of ANZA.
HE Peter Rowe will, on behalf of ANZA, present the Morhyun Hospice with a cheque and items of capital equipment that will bring the total contribution from ANZA to the hospice to a total value of 70,000, 000 Won this year.
This figure is an increase on last years contribution from charitable events of 20, 000, 000 Won.
A major achievement this year has been to work with the Hospice on a critical list of much needed equipment. Items from this ‘wish list’ have then been then purchased by Companies wishing to support the Hospice and ANZA’s contribution to the community.
For example, McDonalds have been a major supporter of ANZA and the Morhyun Hospice and are generously donating 2 cars to the Hospice, in addition to funding their running costs for one year.
The Little Sister’s of Mary, and the Morhyun Hospice is lead by an Australian nun, who visit the homes of terminally ill Korean’s who cannot access medical services due to financial hardship.
The Sisters and the Hospice arrange for doctor home visits to administer morphine and pain relief whilst the Sister provide counselling and family support services for those left behind. As the Little Sisters of Mary are not government funded they rely heavily on the support from organisations such as ANZA.
ANZA is proud to be able to support people and an organisation that is doing so much to help ill and suffering individuals and families.
