AUSTRALIA – KOREA YEAR OF FRIENDSHIP PROJECT COORDINATOR
The year 2011 will mark the 50th anniversary of the establishment of formal diplomatic relations between Australia and the Republic of Korea (ROK). The two countries agreed to celebrate it as a Year of Friendship (YoF), which will include a range of cultural, business and other activities organised by the Australian Embassy in Korea.
Through a year-long series of events arranged collectively under the 2011 YoF banner, the Australian Embassy Seoul envisages highlighting and expanding the long-standing bilateral relationship and friendship, projecting a contemporary image of Australia as a culturally diverse, innovative and technologically sophisticated society.
The Public Diplomacy Section of the Australian Embassy in Seoul is seeking applications from people to work as a temporary project coordinator from October 2010 to December 2011. The application should include a comprehensive Curriculum Vitae as well as two written references and a letter in English (one page maximum) outlining concisely the applicant’s claims for the position. The position will be at the Broadband 1.2 level with an annual salary of KRW 28,390,464.
Short-listed applicants will be asked to visit Australian Embassy for an interview. The successful applicant will be required to provide a police record check.
Major Duties
1. Plan, coordinate and implement YoF events in line with post public diplomacy objectives.
2. Manage official YoF website; develop and maintain up-to-date content for YoF website and blog.
3. Translate and edit information kits for websites and other publications.
4. Liaise with YoF stakeholders including sponsors and partner organisations to facilitate operations and to ensure adequate staffing, technical and other support for events.
5. Help coordinate VIP invitations and VIP visit programs of senior government officials and artists for the YoF.
6. Other duties as directed.
Required Experience and Qualifications
1. At least 3-5 years of relevant experience in public relations and/or cultural events with practical knowledge of planning, scheduling, operations and contract administration.
2. Strong knowledge of online campaigns and social networking media such as blog, twitter.
3. Effective communication and liaison skills with internal and external clients in implementing communications strategies; verbal and written proficiency in both Korean and English.
4. Effective management of workloads and skills in organisation in order to coordinate several events simultaneously.
5. Flexibility to work as a team in a cooperative, collegiate way.
